FAQs

Who can use Tapmynote?

Tapmynote can be used by anyone with an NFC-enabled mobile phone running on Android. The application has been developed specifically for the Samsung Nexus S. As additional NFC Androids become available, the app will be updated to ensure proper formatting and compatibility with each device. In addition to an NFC phone, Tapmynote users need to procure NFC tags prior to using the app.

How do I get started?
  1. First, sign in or create a free Evernote account. This can be done at evernote.com.
  2. Install the Evernote Android app on your NFC-enabled mobile phone, such as the Nexus S.
  3. Connect to the Internet on your mobile phone via WiFi or 3G.
What is an NFC tag?

NFC tags are small integrated circuits designed to store information that can be retrieved by NFC-enabled devices like the Samsung Nexus S. They are small circular or square-shaped stickers, and are about the size of a large coin.

What kind of NFC tags should I use?

Tapmynote supports NFC Forum-endorsed Type 1 and Type 2 tags, such as MiFare Ultralight C tags. Both types are re-write capable, or can be locked to secure content.

How can I store a link to my note on an NFC tag?
  1. In the Evernote app on your mobile phone, select the note you wish to use then select its context menu (popup menu). Select Share, and on the subsequent list locate and select Tapmynote.
  2. In the Tapmynote app, touch the button [Write to Tag] to enter NFC tag writing mode.
  3. Touch your phone to the NFC tag for one second, and you're done! Your tag has been written and is ready for use.
How can I read a note from an NFC tag?
  1. Make sure the Getting Started steps have been met.
  2. Touch your phone to the NFC tag for one second, and your note will be displayed directly in the Evernote app.
Once written to a tag, are my notes secure?

Yes, tags are encrypted upon being written. To review the content stored to a particular tag, a mobile phone must be logged in to the Evernote account that created that particular note. Your tags are protected with the same level of security as your Evernote account.
